8.3 Computer Fraud
Fraud is criminal deception. Specifically, this is using false representations to obtain
an unjust pecuniary advantage or to injure the rights or interests of another.
It is difficult to estimate how widespread computer fraud is because:
- it is relatively difficult to detect.
- companies who are concerned about their image may be reluctant to publicise
cases of fraud.
Programmers and other computer workers have more oppurtunity to defraud their employer
than other workers.
